TAMPA, Fla. — One person has died following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Friday afternoon, Tampa police reported Saturday.
It happened Friday afternoon at the intersection of Lois Avenue and Bay to Bay Boulevard.
Police reported that one person was seriously injured as a result of the crash. Family and friends later told 10 Tampa Bay 17-year-old Ben Francis died as a result of the tragic crash.
Family and those close to another person riding on the back of the motorcycle with Francis said another Plant High School teenager was seriously injured. Taylor Koulouris, 15, was rushed to the hospital where she is fighting for her life following the collision.
Tampa police say the driver of the car did not see the motorcycle approaching quickly when he was traveling northbound on Bay to Bay Boulevard from the stop sign on Lois Avenue. The driver of the Kia was transported to the hospital due to injuries from the crash but is expected to survive.
The crash remains under investigation by the Tampa Police Department.
