TAMPA, Fla. — Heads up if you're driving in Tampa — the West Sligh Avenue Bridge is shut down.
According to Tampa police, a water main break in the area prompted the closure. West Sligh Avenue is closed in both directions between North Lynn Avenue to North River Shore Drive.
Police released few details but said repairs of the water main break are expected to take "an extended period of time."
Drivers are asked to find an alternate route. If you need to cross the Hillsborough River from either the east or west, motorists can cross either on U.S. 92 or on West M.L.K. Jr. Boulevard.
