RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A seven-time convicted felon has been arrested in Riverview after deputies said they found drugs and a loaded firearm in the man's car during a traffic stop.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said they pulled over 37-year-old David Lewis at the intersection of Balm Riverview Road and McMullen Loop on Friday. After getting consent to search the car, deputies found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded 9mm firearm "at the feet" of Lewis.
Lewis was reportedly already on felony probation for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Alongside violation of his probation, the agency said he now faces multiple charges, including armed possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
"This arrest highlights the importance of proactive policing in keeping dangerous individuals off our streets," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "Our deputies are committed to protecting our community and ensuring justice is served."
