TAMPA, Fla. — An 81-year-old man was arrested in Tampa's Southeast Seminole Highs neighborhood after a barricade situation on Monday afternoon.

Police were first called at 1:35 p.m. to a home on East Osborne Avenue between North 13th and 15th streets in reference to a man getting shot.

The man, who was grazed with a bullet, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. However, the suspect, 81-year-old Richard Jackson, remained inside the house and did not respond to officers' requests, according to police.

Officers said Jackson was barricaded in the home for more than two hours as police tried to make contact. He was successfully taken into custody without incident around 4 p.m.

Jackson was placed under the Baker Act with criminal charges pending.

The stretch of Osbourne Avenue between 13th and 15th streets was closed during the incident but has since reopened.

Investigators said Jackson and the man who was shot knew each other. The firearm Jackson used was also turned into officers on scene, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
