Naked man arrested after putting 7-year-old in chokehold before stabbing 81-year-old, deputies say

Deputies said Yoan Gonzalez Vazquez, 27, is facing several charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and burglary with battery.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A naked man who jumped the fence of a Tampa home has been arrested after deputies said he put a 7-year-old in a chokehold and stabbed an 81-year-old.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at around 4 p.m. on Sunday. That's when Yoan Gonzalez Vazquez, 27, reportedly hopped the fence of a backyard located at Spence Avenue and placed a 7-year-old girl under a chokehold while she was on a trampoline.

According to the agency, the child's mother and neighbors were able to rescue the girl, and Vazquez ran away to another residence.

Deputies were able to arrest Vazquez after they reportedly found him hiding under a covered porch in the backyard of a home near Kimball Avenue and Harold Avenue. 

Law enforcement officials later learned that after Vazquez ran away from the first home, he entered another residence and stabbed an 81-year-old man.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries, HSCO officials say.

"This individual evil actions targeted both a child and an elderly person, showed the disregard for human live," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "Thanks to our deputies' swift response, this man will face the consequences of his actions and answer for the harm and trauma he has caused these families."

Vazquez is facing several charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and burglary with battery, according to deputies.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
