Mother says teacher snatched 2-year-old up by his forearm, carried him around the classroom

The mother said her son has been bitten by other kids multiple times, sometimes comes home with diaper rash and once had a golfball-sized knot on his head.

APOLLO BEACH, Fla. — An Apollo Beach daycare is under investigation after a mother made a complaint a teacher abused her son.

The mother, who chose not to be identified, said her “2-year-old was snatched up by his forearm and carried around his classroom" by a teacher at Creative World Daycare on Frond Way.

She also said he's been bitten by other kids multiple times, sometimes comes home with diaper rash and once had a golfball-sized knot on his head.

The mother also said the population growth in the area means other daycares are full, and because she and her husband work full time, she had no other other option but to stick with Creative World.

A spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there is an open investigation for child abuse at the daycare.

The Hillsborough County Child Care Licensing Division said their investigators will visit the daycare to do interviews with staff about what happened. Someone from the sheriff’s office will do the same.

From there the two agencies will determine if the center broke any licensing rules. If so, it could face a fine and workers may have to undergo training. If there’s something more serious, there could be criminal charges.

Officials at the daycare also confirmed an investigation and said they’ve turned over all necessary information to the appropriate agencies.

Child care licensing officials said there have been no previous complaints against the Apollo Beach Creative World location.
