TAMPA, Fla. — The opportunity to buy your favorite Tampa Bay landmarks is finally here!
Top Trumps USA, under license from Hasbro and the leading company behind the creation of "Monopoly: Tampa Edition," officially revealed the board game at a celebration event Tuesday at Busch Gardens. The board game is now available at select locations online and in stores for $44.99, according to a news release.
Instead of purchasing trademark properties like Boardwalk and Atlantic City, players could hold a stake in Downtown Tampa or Busch Gardens if they have the Monopoly bucks to do so.
The game also features customized Community Chest and Chance playing cards that pay homage to the city’s history.
The board game’s official release has been in the works since summer 2023 when Top Trumps asked local Tampa Bay residents to vote for locations they felt best represented their city.
“We aim to ensure that MONOPOLY: Tampa Edition is an accurate portrayal of what Tampa locals and tourists love about this charming city," Brooke Gorman, a Top Trumps representative, said in a statement last year.
The Tampa Edition is the only Florida city represented in Top Trumps' city editions, which feature 32 total locations across the country.
