4-year-old boy with autism found safe at MacDill Air Force Base

TAMPA, Fla. — Update: MacDill Air Force Base says the 4-year-old boy has been found safe.

Previous story:  Families on MacDill Air Force base are searching for a missing 4-year-old boy with autism.

MacDill shared the news in a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon explaining why there are gate delays for people trying to get on and off the base. At 4:20 p.m., MacDill said the child had been missing for nearly two hours.

The boy is described as having brown hair and was last seen wearing a white shirt with black long sleeves and shorts. His last known location was the Tuskegee Court.

Numerous volunteers are searching on the ground while a helicopter is flying overhead to look for the missing child. 

Anyone on the Air Force base who finds the boy is asked not to touch him but instead approach him and call the Base Defense Operations Center at 813-828-3323.
