TAMPA, Fla. — Police have arrested a 70-year-old man after they said he "intentionally" crashed into a bank building in Tampa.

Robert Beaty faces multiple felonies, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary of an occupied structure and criminal mischief $1,000 or more, according to the police department.

Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Tampa police officers responded to reports of a vehicle that crashed into the USAA located off of Commerce Park Boulevard.

During their investigation, officers say they learned that Beaty arrived at the guard gate and demanded to speak with a bank representative, however, the guards did not allow Beaty to enter.

Beaty then put on a helmet, drove through the parking garage and damaged multiple fences inside, according to TPD. A security SUV, which had two people inside, tried to block Beaty from behind. Beaty reversed and rammed into their car to create space.

No one was injured during the collision, officials confirmed.

The agency said Beaty is not believed to be a former employee of USAA. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
