KEYSTONE, Fla. — Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested a man they say is responsible for a woman's death at a home in Keystone.
Dispatchers got a 911 call around 4:45 a.m. Monday from someone who said they found an unresponsive woman inside a home on Crescent Road near Blake Road. The sheriff's office said this property has several structures spread out with most people living alone.
When they arrived, officials say they were able to locate the woman, 64-year-old Valerie Dandrea, with upper body trauma.
The 911 caller reportedly was living on the other side and could see Dandrea from the shared space. The duplex was described as under "heavy" construction and living conditions were not ideal.
During the investigation, detectives spoke with 53-year-old Cris Jennings, who they say lives on the property in a separate structure from Dandrea's home.
Jennings' told deputies he got into a shouting match with Dandrea over cash, which led to him shooting, officials say.
Detectives also say Jennings threatened someone else with a firearm at his residence before deputies arrived.
"Our deputies acted quickly to apprehend the suspect and bring some measure of closure to the victim's family," said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a statement. "This tragic incident underscores our commitment to ensuring that those who commit violent acts are held accountable."
Jennings is now facing charges, including pre-meditated first degree murder, two counts of armed burglary with battery, aggravated battery and armed false imprisonment.
