Hillsborough deputies investigating murder-suicide in Tampa

A man killed his wife before killing himself on Friday night.

TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough deputies are investigating a murder-suicide that left a husband and wife dead in Tampa.

Detectives said Franklin Vegas Delgado called a relative and said he killed his wife. Law enforcement went to a house on Cedaridge Drive following reports of the missing woman just after 9 p.m. on Friday.

Deputies found the woman named Waleska Gomez Barroeta dead in a car parked at 815 Water Street in downtown Tampa just after midnight. Detectives found out that Vegas Delgado killed her and left the parking lot on foot after banding the car where the victim was found.

At 1:30 a.m., detectives found Vegas Delgado with self-inflicted injuries at the Marriott Waterside Hotel.

"Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This is an unimaginable loss and a painful reminder that violence is never the answer.”

Deputies are still investigating the incident.
