TAMPA, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Emergency Operations Center will work to control the spread of mosquitoes in Hillsborough County this weekend by spraying insecticide across various parts of the county.

Heavy rains and widespread flooding left by Hurricane Milton have created ideal areas for mosquitoes to breed, the agency said in a news release. For that reason, the center will spray Dibrom through the air on Saturday, Nov. 2 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the following locations:

  • Apollo Beach
  • Gibsonton
  • Ruskin
  • Seffner
  • Mango
  • Plant City
  • South Tampa
  • Town N Country
  • Lutz
  • Keystone
  • Odessa
  • Parts of Lithia
  • Parts of Valrico

The treatment will ultimately cover 120,288 acres of Hillsborough County, the center said.

Hillsborough County residents can be notified when aerial or ground treatments are happening in their area by signing up for alerts here.
