Tampa middle school opens as safe haven for Helene victims ahead of forecasted rain

A middle school will be open for residents impacted by Hurricane Helene ahead of severe weather Sunday afternoon and night.

TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County officials are opening Middleton High School on Sunday afternoon as a safe haven ahead of inclement weather for residents impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The school will open at 1 p.m. at 4801 North 22nd St. in Tampa as the forecast calls for heavy rain and wind on Sunday afternoon and night.

Residents who need transportation assistance can call 833-HC STORM or 833-427-8676 to make arrangements.
