TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies arrested eight people after a six-month investigation into a group accused of drug trafficking.
The investigation revolved around Alphonso Guice, 46, who is a seven-time convicted felon. Detectives said they became aware of an operation at a house on South 51st Street in Tampa involving large quantities of cannabinoids, fentanyl, methamphetamine and other controlled substances.
On Thursday, detectives executed a search warrant at the house and found 27 pounds of cannabinoids, an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and numerous structures used for drug activity.
Body camera video from detectives show multiple deputies approaching the house and shouting for the people inside to come out. They are heard pounding on the door, informing the people they have a search warrant. The inside of the house was shown littered with garbage.
Guice was charged with armed possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis and trafficking in synthetic cannabinoids, among several other charges.
Other suspects who were arrested and charged ranged in age from 27 to 65. Their charges included possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting an officer without violence.
