Hillsborough County deputy dies by suicide, sheriff says

Officials say the deputy was found dead in a vehicle outside Tampa Fire Rescue Headquarters.

TAMPA, Fla. — A Hillsborough County deputy died by suicide on Thursday night, according to the sheriff's office.

Timothy White, 45, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a vehicle at the Tampa Fire Rescue Headquarters, officials said.

White worked at the sheriff's office for 15 years and most recently served at the Hillsborough County Courthouse.

"I am devastated to learn that one of our own was suffering in silence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a statement. "The entire Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office grieves with Deputy White's loved ones. To anyone in crisis, please know you are not alone; help is available."
