WIMAUMA, Fla. — A man is dead and three others are hurt after a crash occurred early Sunday morning in Wimauna, troopers say.
Just before 5 a.m., two men from Georgia were in a Dodge Charger heading northbound on 7th Street while two other men from Wimauma were in a Ford F150 going eastbound on State Road 674, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
At the 7th Street and S.R.-674 intersection, the Dodge Charger did not yield before going onto S.R.-674 despite there being a stop sign, authorities say.
That's when the Dodge Charger entered the path of the Ford F150 and was hit by it, authorities say.
Both vehicles reportedly rolled over and landed on an unpaved shoulder northeast of the road.
The driver of the Dodge Charger, who has been identified as a 30-year-old Georgia man, was thrown out of the car in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital where he later died due to his injuries. The other Georiga man who was in the passenger seat was seriously hurt in the crash and was also transported to a hospital. FHP says neither of the men wore their seatbelts before the collision happened.
As for the Wimauma men in the truck, both suffered minor injuries but received treatment at a hospital, troopers say.
