Fire stations in Hillsborough mandatory evacuation zones close, responders relocate

Seven stations across the county are closing Wednesday morning to prepare for Hurricane Milton.

TAMPA, Fla. — Firefighters at stations in mandatory evacuation zones in Hillsborough County are relocating after they close their stations ahead of Hurricane Milton's landfall.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post that all personnel and vehicles who are in Zones A and B will relocate to nearby stations where they will continue responding to 911 calls.

The following stations will be closed starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday:

  • #15 Palm River
  • #17 Ruskin
  • #20 West Hillsborough
  • #29 Apollo Beach
  • #31 Town n' Country
  • #35 Westchase
  • #39 Tampa Shores

Fire officials are reminding residents that firefighters can't respond during sustained hurricane-force winds. They advised people who are in Zones A or B to evacuate.
