RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A 17-year-old boy is dead after an SUV turned into the path of a motorcycle Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 301 in Riverview.
A news release from the Florida Highway Patrol explains a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling northbound "at a high rate of speed" on U.S. 301. At the same time, a Subaru SUV was traveling southbound on the highway.
Eventually, the SUV attempted to make a left turn at the intersection of Balm Riverview Road but ended up in the path of the motorcycle, the agency explains.
The motorcycle reportedly ended up crashing into the SUV.
The teen, who was riding on the bike, died at the scene of the crash, according to troopers. The 72-year-old driver of the SUV was left with minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
