HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A new bodycam video from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office shows deputies rescue a family of three, including their dog after the Alafia River flooded their home.

The rescue took place Friday, Oct. 11, a day after Hurricane Milton made landfall in the Tampa Bay area. The Category 3 hurricane brought widespread impacts across the Bay region, including winds exceeding 100 mph, storm surge and serious flooding.

"I don't know how good he can swim," deputies can be heard saying in the video as they worked to rescue the dog.

Bodycam shows a deputy moving the dog through the heavily flooded home in what appears to be a black bucket. The dog can be seen sticking its face out the top of the bucket while a deputy says calming words.

"Hey, Bubba. It's okay," the deputy said.

Eventually, the dog made it to the rescue boat before being pulled onboard.

"We're grateful to have brought this family and their four-legged friend to safety!" deputies said in a Facebook post.
