Motorcyclist dies after colliding with Hillsborough County school bus on US 301

There were 12 students on the bus during the crash. They were physically unharmed, according to troopers.

RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A motorcyclist is dead after he collided with a Hillsborough County school bus on U.S. 301, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. 

The crash happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Duncan Road in Riverview. According to troopers, the 43-year-old driver of the school bus was going southbound on U.S. 301. At the same time, a 26-year-old motorcyclist from Sun City Center was going northbound on U.S. 301. 

When the school bus driver reached the intersection of Duncan Road, she turned left under a flashing yellow turn signal. As the bus turned, it entered the motorcyclist's path and the two vehicles collided. 

After the initial impact of the collision, the motorcyclist kept going on southbound 301 and hit a 55-year-old in his pickup truck. 

The motorcyclist died as a result of the crash. 

The school bus driver and pickup truck driver were not hurt. Additionally, the 12 students on the school bus at the time of the crash were physically unharmed.
