TAMPA, Florida — A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Tampa, according to a news release.
The crash happened a little after 8:20 a.m. near West Hillsborough Avenue and North Church Street, police said.
Drivers are asked to avoid that area as detectives investigate the crash, and roads are closed.
The department said the driver of the vehicle did remain at the scene of the crash.
