WIMAUMA, Fla. — Five people were killed early Sunday morning in a three-car crash on State Road 674, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said the crash happened around 7 a.m. when the driver of a Toyota Tacoma heading west on SR-674, east of Balm Wimauma Road, veered into the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons. The pickup truck crashed head-on with a Chevy Silverado.
The driver of a Chevy S-10, who was behind the Silverado, attempted to avoid the collision by steering left but rotated and went into a ditch after getting hit with debris from the initial collision, FHP said.
The five people killed in the crash include:
- A 29-year-old man, the Toyota Tacoma driver
- A 37-year-old woman, a passenger in the Tacoma
- A 38-year-old man, a passenger in the Tacoma
- A 23-year-old man, a passenger in the Tacoma
- A 42-year-old man, the Chevy Silverado driver
A 40-year-old man who was a passenger in the Silverado was seriously hurt, while a third passenger in the Silverado was not injured. The Chevy S-10 driver who spun into the ditch was also uninjured.
