HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A man is dead after he was hit by a pickup truck while riding his bike in Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 on U.S. 301 near Ayersworth Glen Boulevard, an area between Riverview and Wimauma.
Troopers say a 46-year-old Tampa man was behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 going northbound on U.S. 301. Once he got south of Ayersworth Glen Boulevard, troopers say the driver overtook and hit a bicyclist who was riding northbound near the median.
The bicyclist, who troopers have not identified, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died.
FHP has not released additional information about the crash.
