TAMPA, Fla. — Performers with the Broadway Magic Foundation were hard at work this weekend preparing for their upcoming show "Anything Goes." Their dedication to the performance is clear, but the purpose behind the show is what makes it special.
Ticket sales will help the non-profit group raise money for its programs that provide classes for children with limited mobility, or who use a wheelchair. It's a cause close to the heart of found Lisa Ferlita.
Ferlita's 11-year-old daughter, Lucy, was born with an extremely rare genetic disease that limits her mobility. Inspired by her passion for performance and a desire to give back to the community, Ferlita opened Broadway Magic in March of 2021.
This production of "Anything Goes" consists of high school and college-age performers. Originally performed in the 1930s, the musical tells the "age-old tale of boy meets girl."
Broadway Magic rehearsed this weekend at Ferlita's own studio in Tampa. The show will run on Saturday, February 10 at Center for the Arts at River Ridge in New Port Richey. There will be a 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. showing. For ticket information, click here.
