RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A 35-year-old Tampa man was arrested following a deadly drunken driving crash late Saturday on U.S. 301 that killed a 19-year-old motorcyclist, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Caleb Green faces a charge of DUI manslaughter, FHP said in a news release Sunday morning.
Troopers say Green was heading west just after 10 p.m. on Bloomingdale Avenue when he ran the red light at U.S. 301 and crashed into the motorcycle. Its rider, a 19-year-old from Valrico, died at the scene of the crash.
Green's Jeep hit the bike and two other SUVs, FHP said, adding that the motorcycle also hit one of the vehicles during impact.
One of the SUV's drivers was a 58-year-old man from Riverview who suffered minor injuries; so, too, did his passengers: a 19-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman. The driver of the second SUV, a 39-year-old man from Riverview, also suffered a minor injury.
Green was found to be impaired and was arrested, troopers said.
