Man arrested after firing gun at car in Tampa, police say

Barricade situation in Tampa's Sulpher Springs neighborhood

TAMPA, Fla. — A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon after firing a gun at a car during a domestic-related situation in Tampa, according to the Tampa Police Department.

It was initially reported that Roger Williams had possibly run inside a home and barricaded himself inside after firing a gun on North Brooks Street. However, according to an update from police, Williams was not inside the home.

Authorities said they were able to contact Williams, who agreed to return to the scene. 

Williams was arrested at a nearby intersection without any issue. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The 26-year-old was taken to Orient Road Jail.

North Brooks Street was closed but since has reopened.
