AVON PARK, Fla. — A man was found dead after a shooting Monday night at a basketball court in Avon Park, the Highlands County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Deputies said they received calls about the shooting around 6:18 p.m. before arriving at the court on Fred Conner Street.
A man was found lying on the ground and was later declared dead at the hospital. The sheriff's office said there were "multiple witnesses" to the shooting and detectives are currently following up on leads in the investigation.
No suspect has been identified at this time.
