3 men arrested for killing woman, hurting another after home invasion goes bad in Spring Hill

One of the alleged shooters was celebrating his 19th birthday when the incident occurred.

SPRING HILL, Fla. — Three men were charged with murder after a home invasion in Spring Hill ended in deadly gunfire resulting in one woman being sent to the hospital and another killed, Hernando County Sheriff said during a news conference.

Just before 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, 911 operators received a call and heard noise before the caller said that someone had been shot, Sheriff Al Nienhuis said.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found two women with gunshot wounds. One was sent to the hospital and the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff said before the deadly shooting had occurred, the woman who was killed was going to engage in a paid sexual act with 22-year-old Jazier Martinez, but at some point, he tried to rob her and the two got into a fight.

Nienhuis said during the commotion, another woman came into the room and two additional men, who were outside, rushed into the home with guns.

The woman who was killed pulled out her gun and the two men from outside, 19-year-old Landen Runyon and 20-year-old Dawson Deskin, pulled out their guns and a gunfight ensued.

Deskin was shot in the stomach and Runyon was shot in the face. But all three men escaped out of the home and left in a white SUV.

All three men were found a few days later. The sheriff said Deskin was located in Kentucky with family. Runyon was found at his home and was almost unrecognizable due to the swelling in his face from his shooting injury. Martinez was also found near his home with no injuries.

The sheriff said Runyon had been celebrating his 19th birthday on the night of the incident. All three men have been charged with murder and are currently in jail.

It is believed the woman was made a target after posting large amounts of money on social media, the sheriff said.

" Not trying to make things any worse for the victim and the victim's family. But going forward, individuals need to know that what they put on social media can attract criminal activity, particularly when they're involved in a high-risk lifestyle like this or involved in drugs or involved in gambling, they are going to attract a criminal element and it is going to result in violence," said Sheriff Nienhuis.

An investigation into this case is still ongoing.
