A man died by suicide after investigators say he shot and killed his brother after the two got into an argument regarding the use of one of their cars.
A 39-year-old man called Hernando County Sheriff's deputies and said he shot his brother on Friday morning at his house on Covington Avenue. The man told deputies that the gun he used was in his bedroom and he would be waiting outside for law enforcement.
When officials got there, the brothers' mother told deputies that her sons were involved in a heated argument regarding the use of a car. The fight escalated, and the 39-year-old shot his brother. After he called 911, he told his mother he did not want to spend the rest of his life in jail and then died by suicide.
Hernando detectives said they are classifying this investigation as a murder-suicide and no additional details are available currently.
