BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — An 18-year-old woman died from her injuries after she was ejected from a car in a crash on Tundra Drive in Hernando County.
The crash happened just after 10 p.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a car, driven by a 17-year-old boy from New Port Richey, approached the intersection of Brookridge Central Boulevard and went off the road. The car rotated, overturned and came to a rest upright in a retention pond.
Several people were inside the car, with a few not wearing seat belts, according to FHP. They include:
- Driver: Male, 17, New Port Richey, minor injury, seat belted
- Passenger: Male, 18, New Port Richey, minor injury, no seat belt
- Passenger: Male, 19, New Port Richey, minor injury, seat belted
- Passenger: Female, 18, New Port Richey, fatal injury, no seat belt
- Passenger: Female, 19, New Port Richey, minor injury, seat belted
The 18-year-old woman who was ejected from the car when it crashed was taken to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries, troopers said.
