Hernando County Sheriff's K-9 retiring

The K-9 will hang up his collar and leash after seven years serving the community.

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — A Hernando County K-9 is retiring after seven years of service with the sheriff's office.

Argo started his crime-fighting journey with his partner Deputy Greg Locke in 2017, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Over his career, Argo apprehended 84 people, located missing persons and helped take illegal narcotics off the streets.

As a retiree,  Argo will spend his days with his partner and family.

"K-9 Argo will now take on the role of ‘Chief of Security’ at the Locke residence, protecting Deputy Locke’s wife and children while he is at work with his new partner, K-9 Maverick, a 1.5-year-old Dutch Shepherd," deputies wrote in the post.
