BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Five people are displaced and two dogs have died after a house fire in Brooksville, officials said.
Hernando County Fire Rescue crews responded to the fire just after 7:30 p.m. off of Jayson Drive. Once they got there, firefighters reportedly found heavy smoke and flames coming from a double wide mobile home.
The agency said crews were able to quickly knock down the fire using an "aggressive offensive strategy." All five people were able to safely evacuate from the house and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
Firefighters, meanwhile, were not injured during the blaze.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time, though officials say an investigation is ongoing.
