Haunted Carnival at Armature Works draws crowds for third year in a row

Food, games, costume contests, along with popular musicians like Diplo and Quavo performed.

TAMPA, Florida — The Halloween spirit felt most alive Saturday at Armature Works in Tampa.

Music, games, food, and costumes were part of the festivities for the third annual Pied Piper's Haunted Carnival. Musicians like Diplo and Quavo also performed throughout the weekend.

"Honestly, everybody's happy," Farah Mahaini said.

Creepy clowns frightened those who dared get in their way. Families decked out as superheroes and villains. The young and old dressed their fantasies to life through figures from the past.

The sounds of bumper cars and the sights of prizes keep kids busy.

Not to mention, the taste of fried, doughy delights like pizza and funnel cakes, along with sweet, sugary treats like ice cream.

"It's a great group of people," Alex Santos said. "You couldn't ask for a better place."

Later in the night, the party got wilder and the lines only got longer with bars available throughout the venue.

With so much to do, families are already planning to return to next year's carnival, including the Emery family. Parents Andrew and Melissa brought their 2-year-old Cameron and are expecting a baby girl early next year.

"We're excited to come down and support downtown Tampa, and come out and celebrate," Andrew Emery said.

The Haunted Carnival will also take place on Sunday.

Nearby, a trick-or-treat event took place at Water Works Park, along with a movie for families at Curtis Hixon Park.
