NEW ORLEANS — The cause of death for former Houston Texans receiver and kick returner Jacoby Jones was revealed on Tuesday.
Jones died last month at his home in New Orleans. According to officials there, Jones died of natural causes and cited hypertensive cardiovascular disease as his cause of death.
He was 40. KHOU 11's Zack Tawatari learned that Jones died in his sleep.
Playing career
Jones was a third-round draft pick by Houston out of Lane College in 2007. He went on to play five seasons with the Texans, from 2007 through the 2011 season before moving on to Baltimore as a free agent, where he was part of a Super Bowl-winning team.
He played for Baltimore from 2012 through 2014. He was on the 2013 Ravens team that won the Super Bowl against San Francisco. In that game, Jones returned a kick 108 yards, which was one for the record books.
