POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Polk County Fire Rescue was involved in a high-flying rescue when a hang glider got caught in a tree on Sunday.
Rescuers were called to a swampy area where the glider was stuck 30 feet up after it crashed into a cypress tree.
Eleven fire rescue units, several Polk County deputies and some bystanders helped bring the glider's pilot down. He was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
The rescue took about two hours.
