The former attorney for George Zimmerman has joined the defense team of Michael Dunn, who is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of an alleged shoplifter. You may remember Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin,
Mark O'Mara is co-counsel in Dunn's case, according to Dunn's defense attorney, James R. "Rusty" Franklin.
O'Mara helped Zimmerman get acquitted in the 2012 death of Martin. He is also a legal expert for CNN.
Dunn has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Christobal Lopez, who was fatally shot Oct. 3 while allegedly shoplifting from the military surplus store Dunn owns.
Dunn resigned as a Lakeland city commissioner after his arrest.
Dunn has pleaded not guilty in Lopez's death.
