Largo - Patricia Tomko has strong opinions about the case of Terri Schiavo and to her it’s personal. “I’m speaking for Terri. Somebody needs to let her go,” says Tomko who once cared for Schiavo.In the mid-90’s Tomko was a certified nursing assistant at the Sabal Palms Nursing Home in Largo where Schiavo was a resident for years. Tomko says at that time Schiavo had no awareness of her surroundings and she agrees with doctors who say the brain-damaged woman has no consciousness. “It’s just a body; I don’t think there’s a person in there who can actually understand.”Tomko says the prolonged court battle over the fate Schiavo saddens her and she just wishes Schiavo would be allowed to die. “It’s time to let her go.”
