JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Legendary New Orleans Saints Steve Gleason was taken to Ochsner Hospital as Hurricane Francine drifted her way through a destructive path in Louisiana.

Gleason has ALS and a hurricane can prove challenging for people with special needs.

“For those who have asked, Steve was taken to Ochsner last night during the storm. He is now stable,” a representative said in a tweet from Gleason’s Twitter account.

“We want to thank @NOLAFireDept first responders and @NewOrleansEMS for getting to us during unsafe circumstances and to the @OchsnerHealth staff for their immediate care. We will update everyone as soon as we know more. Thanks, the Gleason Crew.”
