Bomb squad gives all-clear, deems suspicious package safe at Fort Lauderdale airport

According to a news release, regional communications received reports of a suspicious package outside Terminal 4 at the Fort Lauderdale Airport around 6:30 p.m.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Broward's County Sheriff's Office investigated reports of a suspicious package at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Sunday evening.

The package was reportedly found around 6:30 p.m. outside Terminal 4.

As of 9:39 p.m., the bomb squad has given the all-clear and deemed the package safe.

The Broward Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad responded to the scene, along with several deputies.

It was not immediately clear what the "package" looked like.

All the roadways into the airport were closed to traffic while authorities dealt with the situation.
