Davis Islands mansion once owned by Derek Jeter to be torn down. Here's what's replacing it.

News of Jeter's former home's fate has been circulating for more than a year.

TAMPA, Fla. — The sprawling waterfront mansion in Davis Islands once owned by baseball legend Derek Jeter and rented by "the G.O.A.T." of football Tom Brady will soon be torn down. In its place, a new, even bigger mansion will rise. 

The 22,000-square-foot mansion sold for a historic $22.5 million back in 2021. At the time, the realtors who sold the property said the home's final price tag was the largest not only in Tampa's history but also in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Manatee counties. The mansion's size itself is also one of the largest in South Tampa.

News of Jeter's former home's fate has been circulating for more than a year. Back in September 2022, the city of Tampa confirmed a demolition application was initiated but not complete. Until now, the 13-year-old home has sat in limbo. 

   

According to Ellison Construction, the reported builders of the new mansion set to materialize at 58 Bahama Circle, this new single-family mansion will be approximately 30,000 square feet, housing six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Renderings of the exterior were shared on the company's Facebook page. The designers are listed as the Landry Design Group.

Ellison Construction is behind other signature Tampa locations including Oxford Exchange, Armature Works and Sparkman Wharf.

According to a report from the Tampa Bay Times, construction is expected to begin in 2024 and last for about three years. However, exactly when that will happen isn't known.
