Brandon, Florida --Hillsborough Fire Rescue says a fire at a TECO substation in Brandon is now under control. The fire started with an explosion that knocked out power to thousands.
Flames at the scene reportedly reached 50 to 60 feet in height.
An update from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue after 10:30 said no personnel were hurt in the explosion.
Mineral oil used to cool transformers and decrease voltage running through them at the substation is serving as fuel to the fire. TECO has shut down the station in an effort to slow the flames as crews work to extinguish them.
HCFR stayed on scene as the mineral oil burned off, a process that took several hours.
Over 2,000 people were reportedly without power as a result of the explosion.
