New Port Richey, Florida -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is asking homeowners to keep an eye out for power thefts in the county that often lead to the discoveries of grow houses.
Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco says the Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative is out $206,000 in the past two weeks after deputies found seven locations stealing power from the co-op. Authorities say the crooks have figured out how to manipulate the system.
Since 2006, authorities have busted 150 grow houses amounting to $2.5 million in losses due to power tampering -- and it's affecting everyone's bills.
Now, the Withlacoochee Electric is offering a cash reward for information that may lead to an arrest.
