A 33-year-old man who was riding an electric scooter when he was hit by a vehicle has died, Tampa police said.
John Michael Edgerton was riding the rented Lime scooter on June 20 on South 20th Street near Stuart Street. Police said he veered into the path of a tractor trailer, which struck him.
Edgerton, who was not wearing a helmet, died Wednesday, police said.
The driver has not been charged.
The city of Tampa launched the electric scooter pilot program in May.
