Nearly six months after suffering severe burns during an intentionally set house fire, a strong-willed pup has gotten an official 'furever' home.
Denali has seen and been through a lot in her short three years of life.
In late August, the American terrier mix was rescued from a two-alarm house fire along with seven other dogs in Lutz. Investigators say a woman had intentionally set the fire while removing items during a separation from her husband who was deployed in Iraq at the time.
Denali was rescued by the Suncoast Animal League, who originally gave her a 50/50 shot of survival.
That's why it was fitting for Denali's adoption announcement to be celebrated and honored by the animal league Sunday during a special event, 'Denali's Be My Valentine.'
Local businesses donated raffle items and a local company, Johnny's Photo Booth, set up shop to capture some adorable moments of partygoers posing with the pup of honor.
Even sweeter than all the 'pawsome' moments shared in the photo booth?
After months of fostering and special care, the adoption reveal had a pretty adorable twist: Karey Burek, Denali's foster mom, officially adopted her.
"We talked about how unbelievable her journey has been from being burned by her former owner in August to being loved by thousands of well-wishers across the state, country and world," The Suncoast Animal League posted. "And then we had that magical moment where we watched Denali’s foster mom Karey sign her official adoption paperwork."
