Lakewood Ranch, Florida -- It's one of the biggest events all year in Sarasota. The Dick Vitale Gala, which raises money for cancer research. That event is sold out, but the 74-year-old Lakewood Ranch resident and ESPN broadcaster is asking for your help in a cause near and dear to his heart.

Lacey Holsworth, an 8-year-old from East Lansing, Michigan, died earlier this month. Lacey suffered from nerve-cell cancer and became close with the Michigan State basketball team. She even went to the Final Four. Lacey died shortly after and Dick told her father he would do everything he could for cancer research in her memory.

"We're going to raise a quarter of a million dollars in her name and have research grants. The Lacey Holsworth research grants are going to kids at various hospitals like All Children's and other hospitals around," said Vitale.

If you would like to make a donation, and help the fight against pediatric cancer, you can go to Dick Vitale's website, dickvitaleonline.com. Click on the picture of Lacey to find out how to donate. By the way, his gala is sold out although there is a waiting list for next year.
