BARTOW, Fla. — When Wendy and Mike McMillan, transformed an old bank into a drive-thru coffee shop in Bartow Florida, they were delighted to see the local response after they opened.
The inspiration for Banker’s Brew came during a trip to Alaska, where Wendy and Mike noticed the popularity of drive-thru coffee shops. The idea struck a chord with Wendy, and they decided to bring the concept back home. In 2023, Banker’s Brew opened its doors at 120 Polk St. East, and since then, it has become a beloved spot for coffee enthusiasts.
Banker’s Brew’s charm lies not just in its unique location but also in its creative menu. Each coffee is named with a banking theme, adding a touch of fun to the ordering experience. For those needing an extra boost, they offer selections infused with an energy drink, known as a kicker.
Wendy, a coffee lover herself, believes it’s the guest experience that sets Banker’s Brew apart.
"We like offering face-to-face ordering through the drive-thru because even though many people like coffee, you may not know what you want at different shops. We like walking our guests through that process to make it easier and not so overwhelming," she said.
In addition to their coffee, Banker’s Brew serves light breakfast bites, including Belgian waffles, bagels and oatmeal. They also offer grab-and-go sandwiches, sides and desserts, with favorites like the turkey delight and chicken salad.
The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Wendy and Mike are thrilled with how Banker’s Brew has been received and are excited to continue serving their unique brews and tasty treats to guests.
