A thunderstorm producing suspected straight-line winds, scrapping weekend plans, and even more in Eastern Manatee County.
"It's pretty impressive when it can rip the roof off the building," said Calvin Johnston.
Johnston said much of the roof of the barn near his house ended up at the neighbors a few hundred yards away.
"I thought we were going to die. I felt like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz," said Jennifer Jones.
Fences were knocked down, trees toppled but fortunately no people or animals were injured in the area that is home to several horse farms.
"We are very thankful. Definitely one of the worst storms I've seen," Johnston said.
Winds were estimated at 60-80 miles per hour Thursday evening.
