Man dies after shooting at Crystal River home, deputies say

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said an investigation is ongoing.

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. — A man died after a shooting at a home in Citrus County, deputies say.

On Monday morning, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call about a man who had been shot at a residence in Crystal River. After arriving, they reportedly found 62-year-old Kimp O'Dell Knight with "an apparent gunshot wound."

Fire rescue crews that were also at the scene transported Knight to a local hospital where he later died.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday afternoon, officials said. An investigation is ongoing.

"Our condolences go out to the family of Mr. Knight, whose life was taken in an apparent act of violence," Sheriff Prendergast said in a statement. "The detectives of the Major Crimes Unit will continue to work tirelessly on this case to bring the perpetrator to justice and keep our citizens safe. If anyone in the community has information about this case, we urge them to come forward and help bring closure to Mr. Knight's family."
