Caught on camera: Woman takes Amazon van on a joyride in Michigan

Video shows a woman falling out of the van moments before it crashes. Now, she is being charged.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A woman is charged after a shocking video was posted online of someone stealing an Amazon delivery van in Grand Rapids over the weekend.

Elizabeth Celeste-Tristen Frasier is charged with one count of unlawfully driving away and auto and failure to stop at a property damage accident, says Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker.

Grand Rapids Police confirm to 13 ON YOUR SIDE the incident happened around 1:15 p.m. Saturday near Calvin Avenue Southeast and Hazen Street, south of Burton Street.

The theft was captured on a surveillance camera from inside the Amazon van.

Frasier allegedly opened the closed door and hopped inside while the delivery driver was away.

She doesn't waste any time, quickly sitting down in the driver's seat and fumbling with the gearshift before driving off.

The driver is captured on video taking a couple of quick turns and then, with a smile on her face, begins jerking the steering wheel from side to side, causing her to fall out of the open door.

The van crashed shortly after.

Days after the video was posted, Grand Rapids Police say a person was identified in relation to the case. A woman was quickly charged.

The charges are punishable by 5 years in prison, plus 90 days and/or $100.

"We’re glad the driver is ok after this terrifying incident and we’re working with the Grand Rapids Police Department as they investigate," said Amazon to 13 ON YOUR SIDE.

Information on an arraignment is yet to be released.
