Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of a boat fire in a canal off Memorial Highway in the Bay Crest Park community.
HCFR says when crews arrived the 16-foot boat was engulfed in flames. It was not secured to a dock and was free floating in a canal off Starfish Lane.
Two women on board at the time had to jump from the boat. They were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition with minor injuries.
There was no other damage to nearby docks or to vegetation.
